After receiving quotes from 6 companies, we went for Peter Barry. Although not the most affordable option, their teams are well organised and promptly responded to our queries. The report is professionally written and you may need to teach yourself if you are uninitiated. The only minus was the report didn't come with any photos of the property. I recently used Peter Barry Surveyors (Matthew Price) to assist me with the valuation of my property and the subsequent lease extension negotiations with my Landlord. Matthew prepared a desk top valuation report using floorplans I already had for my property, which was less expensive than but still very in-depth. Having never been through a lease extension process before he made it so much simpler for me. When I received the Landlord's counter offer which was initially quite high I was a little worried. Matthew was extremely professional and very efficient in keeping me updated. Matthew successfully negotiated with the landlords valuers on my behalf to reduce the lease premium down by over £2,000 on their initial offer. Recent Activity in West Ham E13

Work to add a rear extension to a property just to the south of West Ham recently completed without incident. Our surveyor, Justin Burns, acted for the building owner and served notices on the owners of the properties to either side.

This was one of those situations where an adjoining owner did not respond to the notice, or a formal reminder letter, despite clearly living at the property. In that scenario the Act requires the building owner to appoint a surveyor to act for their non-responsive neighbour (that can’t be the same surveyor that their using). We assisted the building owner with their choice of surveyor and the award was completed incorporating a schedule of condition taken from the building owner’s garden.

As occasionally happens, as soon as work commenced, the previously silent adjoining owner ‘appointed’ a surveyor who reached out to Justin. It was too late to stop the works but at least it meant we gained access to complete the schedule of condition.
