I recently used Peter Barry Surveyors (Matthew Price) to assist me with the valuation of my property and the subsequent lease extension negotiations with my Landlord. Matthew prepared a desk top valuation report using floorplans I already had for my property, which was less expensive than but still very in-depth. Having never been through a lease extension process before he made it so much simpler for me. When I received the Landlord's counter offer which was initially quite high I was a little worried. Matthew was extremely professional and very efficient in keeping me updated. Matthew successfully negotiated with the landlords valuers on my behalf to reduce the lease premium down by over £2,000 on their initial offer. A very good outcome and I was extremely appreciative for all his efforts on my behalf.

Recent Activity in Croydon CR0

Sometimes life events must take priority over work! When each of the owners in a party wall dispute appoint their own surveyor, part of the process is for both surveyors to visit the adjoining owners’ property and prepare a schedule of condition report. This report is attached to the party wall award and can be reviewed to either confirm or refute a claim of damage. The usual protocol is for both surveyors to visit the property at the same time with the adjoining owners’ surveyor witnessing the notes taken by the building owner’s surveyor.

Our residential surveyor, James Merewether, recently acted for some adjoining owners in Croydon and booked in the joint inspection. On the morning it was due to take place, our appointing owners went into early labour. After a couple of calls, it was agreed that the other surveyor would carry out the inspection on his own and that James would visit the property to check the report after the husband’s paternity leave but before the Award was served.

Everything went ahead in accordance with the new plan and the works commenced on schedule (unlike the labour!).
